Background
Cisco also provides the broadest line of solutions for transporting Data, Voice and Video within buildings, across campuses, or around the world. Cisco solutions ensure that networks operate with maximum performance, security, and scalability.
Founded in 1984 by a group of computer scientists from Stanford University, Cisco Systems, Inc. is the global leader in networking for the Internet. Cisco's Internet Protocol-based (IP) networking solutions are the foundation of the Internet for most corporate, educational and government networks around the world.
Challenge
Cisco acquired StrataCom to enter the Service Provider market where many Providers were without the resources to effectively operate on the new platform. The company built the Service Provider Technical Assistance Center (SPTAC) in Raleigh, North Carolina with intentions of outsourcing the support to its customers, which consisted of large Service Providers with transcontinental backbones.
Solution
After a 6-month interviewing and screening process with leading industry recognized consulting firms and inter-networking experts on the StrataCom technology, CISCO subcontracted six network consultants. KOMPSYS CEO Kevin Doby was the first to be selected as a contractor, and 3 of the remaining 5 were KOMPSYS consultants.
Result
The KOMPSYS' consultants delivered Tier three support to Service Providers who purchased the StrataCom product line from Cisco, including Bellsouth, WorldCom, Concert and SBC Communications. The team managed converging voice and data for intercontinental backbone networks, including FR/ATM and voice over IP (VoIP) technologies.
"The team always made sure to research a problem thoroughly before making a solution recommendation and [they] always responded in a timely fashion. The team's customer satisfaction scores always stayed above 4.56."
